Lebanon expects a written offer from US Energy Envoy Amos Hochstein concerning the demarcation of a maritime border with the Zionist entity by the end of the week, Lebanon’s presidency announced on Monday.
In a tweet, Lebanese presidency quoted Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab as saying that he expected the written proposal to be submitted by Hochstein by the end of the week.
Bou Saab met with Hochstein last week during a visit to New York and briefed President Michel Aoun on the outcome, the presidency added.
Hezbollah Deputy Chief Sheikh Naim Qassem said on Saturday (September 24) that the Lebanese resistance party will wait for US Hochstein to submit his written proposal on the maritime dispute.
Sheikh Qassem reiterated Hezbollah’s stance from the US mediator, describing the Israeli-born official as ‘biased’.
“We will wait for the written proposal the biased US mediator will submit to the Lebanese Government. When the Government says that the proposal matches Lebanon’s rights then we consider that Lebanon has restored its rights,” the Hezbollah senior official said during Saturday’s remarks.
