Palestinians have carried out 29 resistance activity against Israeli soldiers and settlers in the last 24 hours, injuring at least 7 soldiers and tow settlers, Palestinian media reported.
On Saturday morning, seven Israeli soldiers suffocated inside a fortified military tower at the main entrance of Beit Ummar town, north of Al-Khalil (Hebron), in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, after Palestinian protesters burnt the tires in front of its gate.
Media sources said Israeli ambulances rushed to the tower and moved the wounded soldiers to an Israeli hospital.
The Israeli army closed the area to the Palestinians before Israeli firefighters also rushed to the scene of the incident and extinguished the fire.
Palestinian activist Mohammad Ayyad Awad said the soldiers were apparently sleeping and did not notice the fire until the intense smoke from burnt car tires started raising, International Middle East Media Center reported.
Palestinians also shot at an Israeli settler near Nablus’ Hawara checkpoint, Palestine Today reported noting that the settler was injured and transferred to the hospital.
Another Zionist settler was injured as Palestinians threw stone at him near Nablus.
The resistance activities also included confrontations with Israeli occupation forces in several areas across the West Bank’s Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nbalus and Jenin.
For its part, Israeli media reported that occupation forces are on high alert “amid a resurgence of tensions in the West Bank”, with Israeli Channel 12 reporting that Israeli occupation army is reportedly preparing for a “major operation” in the West Bank.
