President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, hoped that the new parliament would be able to face the current challenges at various levels and contribute to saving Lebanon from the economic and social crisis by enacting the necessary legislation and laws, “Which would achieve the necessary economic advancement for the country”.
President Aoun’s positions came while meeting Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Parliament Vice President, Elias Bou Saab and members of the Parliament’s bureau: Alain Aoun, Michel Moussa, Hagop Pakradounian, Karim Kabbara.
The delegation visited Baabda Palace on the occasion of their election, according to tradition.
Speaker Berri arrived at around 3:00 PM at Baabda Palace and heading to President Aoun’s office, who received him at the entrance and held a closed meeting during which he congratulated him on his election, wishing him success.
The meeting tackled topics related to the expected constitutional benefits and how to deal with the various issues.
Afterwards, members of the Parliament bureau, joined the President and the Speaker, successively.
Statement of Speaker Berri:
After the memorial photo was taken, Speaker Berri and members of the Parliament bureau staff left the office of the President of the Republic.
In response to whether the conversation with President Aoun dealt with binding parliamentary consultations, Speaker Berri only said, “Without any doubt”.
