Lebanon continued fighting the Captagon smuggling operations. The Lebanese authorities have seized a large quantity of Captagon hidden in a tea shipment, the interior minister announced Tuesday.
“Painstaking police work led to the seizure of a Captagon shipment, which was headed to Togo in Africa,” Bassam Mawlawi who expected that the shipment was bound for Saudi Arabia.
Security sources told Al-Manar TV Channel that the shipment was packed in Dekwaneh area, disclosing the initials of the names of the owners and operators who descend from various Lebanese areas and include a Syrian national.
The shipment headed into the coasts of Togo where it was deported back into Lebanon upon the request of the Lebanese authorities, according to the sources that added the Lebanese security forces, then, arrested the owners of the Captagon shipment and all the culprits.
A large number of gangs from various nationalities and sects are involved in the Captagon smuggling operations which must never be politically exploited.
Lebanon has proved its serious attitude in the fight against the Captagon gangs despite the politicized accusations thrown by some governments aimed at reaching certain political aims.
