The House of Representatives ratified the election law, as approved by the General Assembly last week, by keeping the election date on March 27.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri later adjourned the plenary session due to lack of quorum in the wake of the Strong Lebanon bloc MPs’ withdrawal against the backdrop of the election law debate.

Strong Lebanon bloc deputies had withdrawn from the session, and MP Gebran Bassil attributed the withdrawal to a major “constitutional violation”.
