Lebanon registered on Tuesday 1,182 new coronavirus cases and 26 related deaths, Ministry of Public Health announced.

1,178 new infections were recorded among local residents, while the other 4 cases were imported, the ministry said in its daily report, putting the total infections nationwide since February 2020 to 522,763.

26 new fatalities were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 7,197, the ministry stated.

The ministry put the number of active cases at 22,924. It added that 16,471 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, including 2,377 at Beirut International Airport.

1,379 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, including 632 at the ICU rooms, 189 of whom are on ventilators, the report added.
