Lebanese caretaker Finance Minister Ghazi Wazne sent on Tuesday a decree to the Presidency of Council of Ministers to transfer funds from budget reserve for parliamentary by-elections.
Wazni sent a draft decree to transfer of funds from the budget reserve of the year 2021 to the Ministry of the Interior, with the aim of organizing legislative by-elections to fill ten seats that have become vacant due to either resignation or death, National News Agency reported.
In recent months the Parliament I Lebanon has lost 10 of its 128 members, raising doubts about legal issues in calculating the quorum, especially with regard to critical sessions.
Eight MPs submitted a collective resignation after the Beirut port explosion.
Two MPs, Michel Murr and Jean Obeid, recently died from COVID-19 complications.
