The technical committee formed by caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hamad Hasan, to research the registration of vaccines provided by the private sector, agreed to allow the issuance of an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Russian vaccine, SPUTNIK V, provided that it is imported exclusively by a certified party.

The decision was made during a committee meeting chaired by Minister Hassan this Friday afternoon at the Ministry of Public Health.

With the granting of SPUTNIK V the EUA, the vaccine will now be available under the applicable laws. An agreement will be concluded with the companies importing the Russian vaccine to ensure the documentation of citizens who received it, and to ensure compliance with the standards set by the National Health Committee.

In subsequent meetings, the committee will study other requests to bring in additional vaccines, including China’s Sinopharm.
