The Lebanese presidency press office issued on Monday a statement in which it reiterated that President Michel Aoun did not request the nomination of one-third of the ministers in the new government, refuting media and political claims that this would be the reason behind the delay in the cabinet formation.
The statement highlighted President Aoun’s keenness on nominating specialist ministers, who can gain the local and international confidence, in order to preserve the national partnership and Lebanon’s supreme interest.
President Aoun tasked prime minister-designate, Saad Hariri, to form the new government on October 22, 2020, after he was nominated by 65 members of the parliament.
The cabinet formation process has witnessed an unjustifiable procrastination amid an ongoing exchange of accusations regarding the responsibility for this delay despite the multidimensional crisis in Lebanon.
