Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Mohamed Fahmy on Saturday stressed that the Lebanese authorities will decide the total lockdown again in case the coronavirus infections rise.
Following a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rahi, Minister Fahmy said that “the tragedy of August has put an end to the joy of Christmas, and I hope that Lebanon will overcome all hardships we have experienced this year.”
Commenting on the investigation into the Port explosion, Fahmy added: “I will not give a comment to the media for the sake of secrecy of the investigations.”
He also indicated that “the results must be reached in the Beirut Port crime,” noting that there was no dispute between politicians and the judiciary.
Fahmy concluded by saying, “I have no right to interfere with the investigating judge.”
