Israeli Occupation Forces attacked on Wednesday Syrian demonstrators in the occupied Syrian Golan after they massed up in protest against setting wind turbines on their lands.
SANA news agency reported that more than 20 citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan were injured due to the Israeli occupation forces’ attack against them with rubber bullets and tear gas, noting that others were arrested.
Earlier in the day, Syrians in the occupied Golan announced start of general strike in protest against the installation of wind tribunes.
Syrians started since the early morning to gather near al-Ya’fouri monument between the occupied villages of Majdal Shams and Masa’da, then they were divided into groups to spread in the lands which the occupation forces have been seeking to set up the turbines in, SANA reported.
Earlier on Monday, occupation forces set up heavy access restrictions on Syrian citizens by cutting roads and preventing their entry to their lands in the occupied Golan.
Four Syrian villages were illegally occupied in 1967 during the Middle East war and later annexed by the Israeli occupation in 1981 in a move that was not recognized internationally. Almost 22,000 Syrians live in Majdal Shams, Buqata, Masada, Ein Qiniyye, and a similar number of Zionist settlers live in almost 30 settlements and agriculture outposts in the area.
