Satellite equipment has been used in the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, says the spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
Speaking in a commemoration ceremony for the assassinated Iranian scientist on Sunday, Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said, “Advanced electronic instruments guided by satellite were used in the assassination of Martyr Fakhrizadeh.”
He added that “the Zionists are well aware that their measures [against Iran] will not go unanswered and this issue has been proven to them in the past.”
Fakhrizadeh, the head of the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research, was targeted in a terrorist attack by a number of assailants in the city of Absard, Tehran Province’s Damavand County, on November 27.
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has said the assassination by ‘Zionist elements’ was a grave and inhumane crime aimed at curbing the Iranian march toward scientific progress.
On Wednesday, the Iranian administration said the Intelligence Ministry had identified the individuals involved in the assassination.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sharif emphasized that it is one of the main goals of the Zionists’ to block the access of Muslim countries, not least Iran, to scientific know-how in various fields.
“In the wake of the victory of the Islamic Revolution” in 1979, he said, “the interests of the United States and Zionists were jeopardized and Zionists saw the Iranian nation as a hurdle on the way of achieving their goals and committing crimes.”
Emphasizing that the “occupying Zionists, lack any civilizational background,” the IRGC official added, “This fake regime has assassinated 2,700 elites of regional Muslim countries over the past 70 years.”
“The Zionists themselves take honor in their acts of terror and have published the names of the assassinated Muslim elites in several books,” Sharif said.
Now, he said, they have come to realize that their hollow power and identity are in danger.
“While the Zionists claimed that they have destroyed the armies of Arab [countries] at the shortest time possible, they suffered a heavy defeat from a resilient and Muslim group,” he said, referring to Israel’s 33-day war on Lebanon in which it sustained a major defeat at the hands of Hezbollah resistance movement.
