Minister of Social Affairs, Ramzi Musharrafieh, who is heading Lebanon’s delegation to the Int’l Conference on the Return of Refugees held in Damascus, met with four Syrian ministers and the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy.
Musharrafieh discussed the Syrian refugees file and the Lebanese government’s plan to return them with the ministers of Interior Affairs, Major General Mohammad Khaled Al-Rahmoun, Labor and Social Affairs, Dr. Salwa Al-Abdullah, the Local Administration and Environment, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad.
Musharrafieh also met with the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy, Alexander Lavrentiev, discussing with him the timeline of the refugees’ return.
The Lebanese minister stressed that the Syrian refugees crisis is humanitarian, adding that the pretexts for their displacement are no longer valid amid the restoration of security and stability across most of the Syrian cities and towns.
Musharrafieh also pointed out that Lebanon suffers from a major economic woe and can no longer bear the burden of the huge numbers of the Syrian refugees.
