US President Donald Trump has supported Texas drivers who surrounded his presidential election rival Joe Biden’s campaign bus, lashing out at the FBI after it said it was conducting an investigation into the incident.
On Friday, a group of Trump supporters surrounded a Biden campaign bus with their vehicles bearing Trump flags and signs in Texas. Video of the incident showed a collision between two cars, with the Biden campaign saying the pro-Trump trucks tried to run the bus off the road as it traveled from San Antonio to Austin.
Trump said on Twitter, “In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong. Instead, the FBI & Justice should be investigating the terrorists, anarchists, and agitators of ANTIFA, who run around burning down our Democrat run cities and hurting our people!”
He also told his supporters in Michigan, “You see the way our people, they — you know they were protecting his bus yesterday.”
“Because they’re nice. So his bus — they had hundreds of cars, Trump, Trump, Trump and the American flag. You see Trump and the American flag. Do you ever notice when you see the other side — I don’t even see much of the other side.”
Also, Trump supporters have disrupted traffic elsewhere in several instances over the last few days. On Sunday, they halted traffic on two major highways in New York and New Jersey.
Caravans of his supporters blockaded the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and the Garden State Parkway, snarling traffic on the two highways the New York metropolitan area. Videos showed they parked in the middle of the westbound lanes of the bridge, which carries Interstate 287 across the Hudson River.
And in New Jersey, Trump supporters snarled up traffic on the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near the Cheesequake Service Area in South Amboy.

When asked about the Sunday incident, Trump’s spokesman, Jason Miller, said that he was more concerned with “downtown Washington businesses having to board up their windows in anticipation of lawless, violent Biden supporters rioting and looting on Tuesday night.”
Meanwhile, Biden responded Sunday afternoon during an event in Pennsylvania, saying, “We are so much better than this,” adding, “It’s not who we are. And we got to change it.”
Also, State Senator David Carlucci, a Democrat who represents Rockland County, described the blockade on the bridge as “aggressive, dangerous and reckless,” with Trump’s backers “causing danger to themselves and others.”
“The New York State Police should be working to identify these individuals and charging them,” Carlucci said. “We all have the right to show support for a presidential candidate, but we do not have the right to endanger others and break the law.”
