Two massive explosions rocked the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, killing or wounding countless number of people. The blasts shook buildings and sent huge plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.
Lebanese media carried images of people trapped under rubble, many bloodied, after the massive blasts in the port area.
The National News Agency reported that the blasts were due to a fire at a warehouse at Beirut Port.
“A warehouse at the Beirut Port caught fire and lead to major explosions, which reverberated in the capital and the suburbs, and left behind great damages to the surrounding buildings and a considerable number of wounded,” NNA said.
Al-Manar correspondent reported that ammonium nitrate was stored in the port, causing the blasts.
