President Hassan Rouhani said Iran is now standing in the frontline of the fighting terrorism, calling France to play a crucial role in the campaign.
In a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on Tuesday, President Rouhani said France can play important role in fighting terrorism and maintaining regional peace and stability.
The Iranian leader welcomed Tehran-Paris relations, saying that today grounds are ready for expansion of bilateral ties in all economic, cultural, and political areas more than ever.
Promoting ties with France as a friend in Europe was of high significance for Iran and diplomatic shuttles indicate that Tehran and Paris are determined to strengthen mutual cooperation, Rouhani added.
He hoped that a new atmosphere will be created in the economic cooperation, particularly in the export sector and transfer of technology.
“Nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers is an important event in the international scene and of course the message of the deal to the world was more significant than its text,” he said.
The nuclear deal conveyed the message that complex international issues can be solved through dialogue and within win-win framework, he said, urging all countries to safeguard the deal because any damage to it can carry the dangerous message that diplomacy is unable to settle problems.
Ayrault, for his part, said that Paris is determined to promote cooperation with Tehran in all fields of mutual interest, noting, “I leave Tehran at a time when a new chapter has opened in the two countries ties in all fields.’
Iran and France have boosted cooperation in the economic, cultural and academic spheres, he said.
Referring to the nuclear agreement, he contended that all should take care of the deal as an international achievement.
EU has a single strategy towards safeguarding achievements of the deal, French minister said.
Appreciating Iran’s positive role in the regional and international developments, he hoped that it will keep up its positive and constructive role in settlement of the regional challenges.
