Lebanon recorded on Thursday 7 new coronavirus cases, as the country readies to receive the third batch of Lebanese expatriates returning from corona-hit countries.
Lebanese Health Ministry announced that 7 new coronavirus cases were confirmed, taking the total infections nationwide to 582.
“The total of laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in Lebanon has risen to 582 as 7 new infections have been confirmed,” the ministry said in its daily report.
Of the seven cases registered on Thursday, one was imported while the six others were for nationals who reside in Lebanon, according to the ministry.
It added that no death forms the contagious disease, known as COVID-19, has been recorded.
“As no fatalities have been recorded, the death toll from corona in Lebanon remains at 19 to date.”
The ministry announced, meanwhile, that 699 PCR tests were carried out for Lebanese residents while 147 other tests were conducted to Lebanese expatriates who returned home on Tuesday (April 7).
Meanwhile, Lebanese health teams along with army and security personnel at Beirut International Airport are readying to receive the third batch of Lebanese expatriates returning from corona-hit countries.
Middle East Airlines (MEA) flights will carry Lebanese nationals returning from Doha, Frankfurt, Accra and London throughout the day.
The first batch of Lebanese expatriates returned home on Sunday, while the second arrived on Tuesday.
Lebanon has been under a lockdown since March 15, with its airport, seaports and land borders shutting down as of March 19, in measures aimed at stemming the spread of coronavirus.
