Israeli cabinet approved on Tuesday a closure and curfew over the Passover holiday as the novel coronavirus infections surpassed 9,000 in the Zionist entity and the death toll of the virus reached 60.
The emergency measures banning all intercity traffic for four days will keep Israelis within their cities and towns and authorize police to detain violators, Times of Israel reported.
The sweeping orders, which were greenlighted following a several-hour cabinet meeting, will also require Israelis to start wearing face masks outdoors beginning Sunday.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, the death toll in the Zionist entity from the coronavirus pandemic climbed to 60, with over 9,000 infections recorded by the Israeli Health Ministry.
According to the ministry, 9,006 people were sick with the virus as of Tuesday morning, 153 of them seriously. Of the serious cases, 113 were on ventilators. Another 181 people were in moderate condition, with the remaining patients showing mild symptoms. The updated figures marked a rise of 102 cases since the previous evening.
