Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Hariri denounced Israeli drone attack in Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh).
The Israeli attack is the “latest in string of repeated Israeli breaches of UN resolution 1701 and a clear indication of Israeli aggressive acts aimed at undermining peace and stability in Lebanon and the region,” National News Agency (NNA) quoted President Aoun as saying.
An Israeli drone come down in Dahiyeh’s Mouawwad neighborhood at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, and another exploded in the same area half an hour later. The attack caused damage to Hezbollah’s Media Relations office which is located in the area.
For his part, Premier Saad Hariri said the attack is a clear aggression on the Lebanese sovereignty and frank breach of resolution 1701.
The aggression poses a real threat to regional stability as it is an attempt to raise tensions, Hariri said in remarks carried by NNA.
The Lebanese PM urged the international community and friends of Lebanon to “bear the responsibility of defending resolution 1701 against Israeli breaches and its repercussions.”
