A humanitarian pause announced by Russia in Eastern Ghouta took effect Tuesday at 9:00 am, with terrorists quickly violating the truce by shelling a humanitarian corridor established for evacuation of trapped civilians.
The daily pause Moscow announced on Monday is due to last until 2:00 pm (1200 GMT).
Moscow said the measure was meant to create a window for some of civilians living in the area to evacuate, using safe passages.
Earlier on Monday, the Kremlin said that terrorists were holding civilians hostages in Eastern Ghouta, the last major terrorist enclave near Damascus.
