At least four PKK members were killed in airstrikes carried out by Turkish jets in northern Iraq on Monday, according to military sources.
The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, said early Tuesday that four militants were “neutralized” and another was injured during an attack by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in the village of Kesta, close to the Turkish border.
A PKK ammunition depot was also destroyed, the sources added.
Turkish jets have been carrying out airstrikes against PKK positions across the border in Iraq, since the group resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July last year.
Since then, around 7000 PKK members were killed in many Turkish attacks, while the Kurdish party claimed the life of about 600 Turkish security personnel, according to Turkey’s statistics.
