The Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hussein Dehqan on Tuesday described Iranians mass turnout in the upcoming presidential election as the biggest deterrent against threats of hegemonic powers.
Speaking in a local gathering, Dehqan emphasized the importance of mass turnout in the May 19 presidential elections stressing that on that day, the Iranian nation will once again create an epic which would guarantee the survival of the country’s Islamic Revolution.
Touching upon the current sensitive and sophisticated situation in the Middle East, he said that the US and the Zionist regime as well as the Saudi rulers are designing dangerous plots in the framework of the Arab NATO to continue crisis, wars and bloodshed in the region.
He added the nation would hatch these evil plots by portraying its unity, solidarity and strength in the elections day.
Dehqan called on the Iranians to vote for a president who will disappoint the enemies.
He expressed certainty that the Iranian nation will create an epic and rush to ballot boxes on May 19 to help defend the country’s might and security and dash the hopes of the enemies.
Nearly 56.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote, from whom, according to a survey carried out by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on May 7-8, some 66.7 percent will participate in the election.
Voters should be at least 18 years old on the day of the elections, i.e. people born before May 19, 1999 can vote in the elections.
