Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, is in Saudi Arabia for talks with top officials there.
Larijani arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, at noon on Tuesday. He is accompanied by his deputy for political affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, and Mohammad Alibak, advisor to the foreign minister for Persian Gulf affairs.
The top Iranian security official is scheduled to meet senior Saudi officials, including Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman Al Saud. Discussions on expanding bilateral economic cooperation are high on the agenda.
Larijani’s visit to Riyadh follows the April trip to Iran by Khalid bin Salman Al Saud.
Saudi Arabia is Larijani’s third regional destination since he assumed office as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council on August 5 this year, after visits to Iraq and Lebanon.
