Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid arrived in Tehran on Saturday to pay his respects to late President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions who died in a tragic helicopter crash last week.
Rashid’s airplane landed at Tehran’s International Mehrabad Airport as he led a delegation to convey Iraq’s condolences over the passing of Raeisi. This visit comes shortly after Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani visited Tehran to meet with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and attend the funeral procession.
During his meeting with Imam Khamenei, Sudani expressed his condolences and praised Raeisi for his dedication to serving the people. Ayatollah Khamenei thanked Sudani for his visit and described Raeisi as an outstanding figure who was dedicated, sincere, and competent.
Rashid’s visit emphasizes the strong ties between Iraq and Iran, as both countries mourn the loss of President Raeisi and his companions. The presence of high-level Iraqi officials in Tehran reflects the deep relationship between the two neighboring nations.
