In a recent interview with a news broadcaster, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene stated that a majority of House members support investigating President Joe Biden in order to move forward with impeachment proceedings. The lawmaker also predicted that a vote to launch an impeachment inquiry could take place as early as September.
According to Greene, the inquiry could help gain access to information from the National Archives and Records Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, which have reportedly been dragging their feet on providing requested bank records of the Biden family. The Congresswoman also suggested that Biden’s alleged use of a pseudonym to communicate with his son about foreign business dealings may have prompted representatives to move forward with the investigation.
US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has expressed support for a vote to launch an impeachment inquiry into Biden, saying that information gathered by the Republican Party allows the question of Biden’s impeachment to be raised. McCarthy has previously stated that the Biden family is involved in a “culture of corruption” and that an investigation into their alleged involvement in corrupt activities necessitates the impeachment process.
If a vote is held and the inquiry is launched, it could expand the ability of the US legislature to gather necessary information for the investigation into the presidency. As the possibility of impeachment looms, the country waits to see how the House will respond.
