French Presidential Envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian continued his meetings with the various parliamentary blocs in the context of his country’s initiative to help Lebanon end the presidential deadlock.
Head of Loyalty to Resistance bloc Hajj Mohammad Raad and Head of Hezbollah International Relations Department Ammar Al-Moussawi met with Le Drian as the meeting lasted for around 2 hours and tackled the presidential elections.
According to Al-Manar sources, Hezbollah representatives told Le Drian that the Resistance Party insists on nominating Head of Marada Mavement SSleiman Franjiyeh for presidency and underscored again the importance of the dialogue in order to surpass the deadlock.
On Friday, Le Dian met with Head of Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) Walid Jumblatt, and Head of “Democratic Gathering” MP Teymour Jumblatt at the Pine Palace in Beirut. Moreover, the French envoy discussed the presidential vote file with the Kataeb bloc, MP Michel Moawwad, and MP Faisal Karami.
Le Drian arrived in Beirut on Wednesday and met with House Speaker Nabih Berri before meeting on Thursday with the caretaker premier Najib Mikati, Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Rai, and representatives of several parliamentary blocs.
