Resistance Parliamentary Bloc held on Thursday a periodic session to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, reiterating support to Head of Marada Movement Sleiman Franjiyeh for presidency.
In a statement read by MP Ihab Hamadeh, the bloc confirmed that its members would attend June 14 session and vote for Franjiyeh, wishing him win and Lebanon stability as well as advancement.
The statement stressed that Franjiyeh is not a confrontational candidate, adding that he reassures most of the Lebanese people and possesses the competence required to handle a number of files, including the Syrian refugees crisis and the restoration of the normal ties with Syria.
The Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri refuted all the rumors which claimed that Hezbollah, Amal Movement, and allies would cast a blank ballot in the twelfth session of the presidential elections set to be held on Wednesday, June 14.
“We will vote for Head of Marada Movement Sleiman Franjiyeh; no one of us stated that we would cast a blank ballot,” Speaker Berri told Al-Akhbar daily on Wednesday.
Speaker Berri added, “We cast blank ballots before announcing the nomination of Franjiyeh.” “Had the other parties accepted my call for a national dialogue, we would not have reached this situation.”
It’s worth noting that Speaker Berri called for a session on 14 June to vote for a new president. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron has named ex-FM Jean-Yves Le Drian as his personal envoy for Lebanon, the Elysee said.
