Two men died following clashes which erupted overnight in Gabon’s capital Libreville, pitting the security forces against demonstrators protesting after President Ali Bongo was declared the winner of a contested election, AFP journalists said.
Bekam Ella Edzang, a 27-year-old law student, died of his wounds in hospital after he was shot in the stomach, an AFP journalist said. Another AFP correspondent saw the body of a 30-year-old being carried by a crowd of protesters through the district of Nzeng Ayng.
