Foreign Minister of Iraq, Ibrahim Al Jaafari, extended an official invitation to President Michel Aoun to visit Iraq.
Jaafari , who arrived Saturday in the Lebanese capital Saturday on a short visit convened with Aoun at Baabda Palace.
President Aoun in turn accepted the official invitation and promised to visit Iraq soon.
The flurry of diplomatic activity in Lebanon comes after a political breakthrough that led to the election of Aoun as the country’s 13th president.
Iran’s Foreign Minister of Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdollahian will arrive in Beirut Monday, while European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini is expected to travel to the Lebanese capital Wednesday, the source added.
