US energy energy Amos Hochstein will visit Lebanon next week to discuss the offshore gas row with the Zionist entity.
Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told a parliamentary session on Tuesday that Hochstein is expected to travel to the country on Sunday or Monday.
Lebanon had on Monday called on the US envoy to return to Beirut as soon as possible to work out an agreement amid rising tensions along the border, after the Zionist entity moved a production vessel to a natural gas field claimed by Lebanon on Sunday.
Lebanese officials warned on Monday that any drilling activity in the disputed area is considered a hostile act.
Earlier, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah threatened the Zionist entity against drilling in the disputed area, stressing the Resistance decision to preserve Lebanon maritime wealth.
The US-mediated indirect talks between Lebanon and the Israeli regime have been stalled for months amid disagreement within Lebanon over how big the disputed area is.
Many national figures in Lebanon cast doubt on the nature of ‘mediation’ role played by the Israeli-born Hochstein, wondering how can this man take the side of Lebanon- when needed- and stand against the “interest of his homeland” (the Zionist entity).
Hochstein served with the Israeli occupation army from 1992 to 1995, and participated in the 1993 Israeli aggression that killed innocent people in Lebanon.
