Mikhail Ulyanov, the Russian envoy to international organizations in Vienna said that the US is likely attempting to save some Trump-era sanctions against Iran since the talks on the JCPOA revival have been paused for over two months.
“Looks like the US tries to preserve some sanctions imposed by Donald Trump in Iran. Washington needs to demonstrate a more constructive and businesslike approach if [it] is really committed to nuclear nonproliferation,” Ulyanov said on Telegram.
The advisor to the Iranian delegation in the Vienna Talks, Dr. Mohammad Marandi, declared on Thursday that the United States is trying to impose itself as the world’s police, adding that with regards to the stalling of the Vienna Talks, the issue is not whether or not the IRGC remains on the terror list, but that guarantees are received (by Iran) that Washington will remain in the deal.
The advisor also clarified that the main issue for Iran in Vienna is that guarantees are made that the United States does not leave the deal again, and that what concerns Iran is that guarantees are given for a sustainable deal, that investments can be made securely, and that sanctions be removed.
