Yemeni revolutionaries shot down an Emirati spy drone over the southern province of Shabwa, a military spokesman announced on Tuesday.
Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the spy drone belongs to the UAE Air Force and was shot down over Shabwa while it was carrying out hostile operations.
Saree said the Yemeni air defense has managed to shoot down a UAE “Wing Long-2” drone with a surface-to-air missile.
The drone was carrying out hostile actions over the city of Usaylan in Shabwa province, the spokesman added.
Yemen has been since March 25, 2015 under aggression by the Saudi-led coalition in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who is Riyadh’s ally. Tens of thousands of Yemenis have been killed or injured by Saudi-led airstrikes.
The Arab country has been also under harsh blockade b the coalition which includes in addition to the Kingdom, the UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco and Sudan.
