Seven Palestinian prisoners go ahead with their hunger-strike in protest against the Israeli administrative detention, amid fears about the deteriorated health of at least two of them
The hunger-striking prisoners include Kayed Fasfous who enters 108 days in detention followed by Miqdad Qawasmeh at 101 days, Alaa Aaraj at 84 days, Hesham Abu Hawwash at 75 days, Shadi Abu-Akr at 67 days, Ayyad Hureimi at 38 days, and Rateb Harebat at 21 days.
Administrative detention is an Israeli policy that allows the arrest of Palestinians indefinitely based on “secret information” without formal charges or trials.
Earlier last week, UN independent rights experts called on Israeli occupation authorities to completely end the “unlawful practice” of administrative detention.
The rights experts highlighted the cases of two of the men, Kayed Al-Fasous and Miqdad Al-Qawasameh, who are said to be in imminent danger of death.
Al-Fasous who was reportedly held in harsh conditions in solitary confinement, and is now in Barzelai hospital, the experts said.
They added that Al Qawasameh was transferred to Kaplan Hospital after his health deteriorated. He has been in intensive care there since 19 October.
On 7 October and 14 October, the Israeli High Court of Justice suspended their administrative detention orders.
