Former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his family vacated the official prime minister’s residence in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Saturday night after 12 years of living there.
The prime minister’s residence, located in the so-called ‘Balfour’ street, will be officially handed to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Israeli media reported.
The newly-elected prime minister is not expected to move into the residence in Al-Quds i24 News reported, adding that Bennett will reportedly stay in ‘Balfour’ during the weeks, hosting meetings and official events.
The residence in ‘Balfour’ has been the official home for Israel’s prime minister since 1974.
In recent years it was the scene of weekly demonstrations against Netanyahu’s rule.
