Lebanon enjoyed a high turnout at the Pfizer vaccine marathon over the weekend, with more than 35,000 jabs have been administered.
Residents aged over 55 years and those aged over 16 with disabilities were initially invited to receive a first-stage Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at one of 12 centers across the country.
Late on Saturday, Health Ministry lowered the age of vaccination to target people aged over 53.
The marathon in the weekend is the third of the Health Ministry’s vaccine campaigns, designed to encourage the uptake of the vaccine.
The ministry announced that 19,089 jabs had been administered by the end of Saturday.
Later on Sunday, caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan said that the number of jabs administered on Sunday crossed 17,500.
