Turkish General Staff stated Tuesday that military aircraft destroyed 28 targets of the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) terrorist group in northern Syria as part of the Euphrates Shield operation over the past 24 hours.
“As a result of airstrikes conducted by our Air Force in the al-Bab, Bzagah regions 28 ISIL targets were destroyed including 6 shelters, 3 headquarters, 3 checkpoints, 2 military vehicles, 2 depots, 3 garages and artillery posts,” the statement obtained by RIA Novosti said.
It added that a total of 157 strikes had been carried out against ISIL positions.
On August 24, the Turkish army launched Operation Euphrates Shield against militants of the ISIL terrorist group.
Turkish forces with assistance from Syrian opposition fighters occupied the city of Jarabulus in northern Syria and are currently conducting its offensive on the ISIL-held city of al-Bab.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan stated that the aim of the operation is to clear the region of terrorists and making it into a safety zone for refugees.
