Amid the stalling cabinet formation process and in light of the hard socioeconomic conditions suffered in Lebanon, Hezbollah launched an initiative to remove the barriers blocking the progress in the governmental file.
According to Al-Manar sources, Hezbollah and the House Speaker, Nabih Berri, started a new round of contacts with President Michel Aoun and MP Gebran Bassil, on one side, and PM-designate Saad Hariri, on the other.
In this context, the sources added that Hezbollah wants to confirm his clear intentions to enhance the cabinet formation and deny all the politicla claims which accuse the party of blocking the constitutional process in light of geopolitical considerations.
Al-Manar sources noted that the General Security Chief General Abbas Ibrahim has also started his contacts to ease tensions and achieve a certain rapprochement between the conflicting sides.
It is worth noting that the Lebanese had banked on the visit which was scheduled by the French President Emmanuel Macron to Lebanon before Christmas to achieve a breakthrough in the governmental deadlock; however, the coronavirus contraction imposed on him to cancel all his trips.
