Lebanese Presidency assured on Monday that consultations aimed at forming the new government in the country are exclusively taking place between President Michel Aoun and PM-designate Saad Hariri.
The Information Office of the Lebanese Presidency issued a statement in which it slammed as inaccurate some reports tackling the ongoing contacts to form the new government.
“Media outlets reported information about the ongoing contacts to form the new government, some of which went so far as to include details about distribution of ministries, names of candidates and other false information,” the statement said, as cited by National News Agency.
The consultations are carried out exclusively and according to the Constitution, between President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, the Information Office asserted.
“There is no third party participating in these consultations, especially MP, Gebran Bassil,” the statement read.
The office also stressed that the consultations “are ongoing in accordance to the supreme national interest.”
