Russia said on Tuesday it has not yet received a response from Kiev on the Ukrainian military’s plan to fire missiles in airspace above Crimean territorial waters in the Black Sea this week.
“So far we did not receive official statements, but there is still time,” Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov told reporters.
The missile drills are expected to take place on December 1-2 between 05:00 GMT and 17:00 GMT, Russian air transport agency Rosaviatsia said, adding that the launches will extend into Russia’s civil airspace and present a threat to flight safety.
Rosaviatsia said last week that Ukraine unilaterally decided to hold missile firing exercises near Simferopol in violation of international agreements.
