The Iraqi parliament voted in favor of the Popular Mobilization Forces joining the country’s army, first deputy parliament speaker Humam Hamoudi said on Saturday.
According to Hamoudi, the decision was adopted unanimously with only the bloc of Iraqi Forces Alliance refusing to vote.
Popular Mobilization Forces fights against the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) terrorist organization on the Iraqi territory and was the main unit participating in the Mosul liberation operation led by Iraqi and Kurdish forces.
