The Lebanese government held Tuesday a regular session at Baabda Palace and approved the Higher Defense Council recommendation to impose partial lockdown as of today, and a complete one as of Thursday, for a period of 5 days, to be followed by a 2-day break, and another 5 days of complete lockdown, after which the outcomes will be evaluated.
The cabinet also decided to extend the general mobilization until August 30 in the context of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
During the session, the foreign minister Nassif Hitti said that the cabinet denounced the Israeli aggression on the Lebanese territories on Monday, adding that Lebanon will file a complaint against ‘Israel’ to the UN Security Council.
Hitti stressed that Lebanon rejects altering the mission of the UNIFIL and the number of soldiers, adding “We have an international support in this regard, and we are trying to expand it.”
The Israeli occupation forces Monday bombarded a number of Lebanese towns in the vicinity of the occupied Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shuba Hills, claiming that it was in response to an infiltration operation carried out by Hezbollah.
For his part, Hezbollah issued to deny the Israeli claims and emphasized that the enemy’s troops unilaterally opened fire for fear of the Resistance response to the Zionist air raid on Damascus which claimed the mujhid martyr Ali Mohsen.
