Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday reaffirmed commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of action and warned of reciprocity to the irresponsible parties to the international agreement endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement to mark the fifth anniversary of signing a 2015 landmark nuclear deal – known a JCPOA – between Iran and six world powers.

Signaling Iran’s readiness to help save the deal, the statement, however, noted that Iran will not tolerate excessive demands of other parties to the accord.

The statement said that US failure to adhere its commitments under the deal and lack of determination of other European parties to keep the deal balanced has caused Iran not to be able to benefit from the deal, including the lifting of nuclear-related sanctions stipulated by the UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Referring to Iran’s constructive cooperation with the UN nuclear agency, the statement said that any effort to abuse the agency by exerting pressure on Iran runs counter to the provisions of JCPOA and will tarnish the credibility of the UN agency.

The statement made it clear that there is no alternative for the JCPOA.

It added that if the international community, the remaining parties to the deal, in particular, are determined to save the accord, they have to focus on a balanced implementation of the deal in good faith.

The statement added that Iran is thankful of China and Russia for their efforts and constructive stances before the UN Security Council, IAEA Board of Governors and the joint commission of JCPOA to help save the deal.
