Despite ceasefire announced in Yemen, Saudi-led coalition have been staging air strikes and using internationally-banned weapons, Yemeni army said late on Sunday.
Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman, said that the Saudi-led coalition have violated the 48-hour ceasefire in Yemen for 114 time since it took effect on Saturday.
“The Saudi-led warplanes violated the ceasefire shortly after it took effect, launching strikes and using internationally-banned arms.”
Violations in Taiz reached 30, while 24 violations were reported in Marib, Luqman said, adding that the 16 violations were reported in al-Jawf.
In al-Bayda, 10 violations of the ceasefire were reported, the army spokesman noted, as he listed the violations in other provinces: 8 in al-Dale, 7 in Shabwa, 9 in Saada, 8 in Haijjah, 1 in Sanaa and 1 in Ibb.
Luqman said that the Saudi-led coalition breached the ceasefire by launching air strikes and artillery fire on the Yemeni territories, assuring that cluster bombs were used by the coalition in the last two days.
Meanwhile, the spokesman stressed that the Yemeni side was completely abiding by the ceasefire, but warned that the army and the popular committees has the right of retaliation.
Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.
Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive ex-president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
The truce that came into force on Saturday followed US Secretary of State John Kerry’s push to halt a conflict that has wrought devastation on the Arab world’s poorest country.
Kerry met representatives of Sanaa government in Oman and urged the exiled government of Hadi to come on board for the ceasefire and political negotiations.
