Minister of Industry, Hussein Hajj Hassan, on Thursday and met with Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammad Samer al-Khalil during a visit to the Syrian capital.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Higher Lebanese-Syrian Council Nasri Khoury, a delegation of the Lebanese Industrialists Association, and a panel of Lebanese exporters and businessmen.
Talks featured high on the economic and trade ties between Lebanon and Syria, as well as on the means to bolster them and remove obstacles hindering the flood of products, National News agency reported.
Both sides agreed on studying the markets’ needs and the means to cover them without putting the economy of any country at stake. Accordingly, the Lebanese side shall Both sides reached an agreement as per which the Lebanese party shall prepare an official memorandum on the Lebanese products that can be exported to Syria, according to NNA.
During the meeting, Hajj Hassan tackled the concerns of Lebanon’s industrialists.
For his part, the Syrian Minister explained the measures undertaken by the Syrian government to protect the national economy and production, and maintain monetary stability.
“It is important to carry on communication in order to widen the scope of thinking on many levels, especially in the fields of economy, industry, and trade,” the Syrian Minister told a joint news conference following the talks.
For his part, Hajj Hassan indicated that talks touched on an array of economic and political affairs.
“It is normal to highlight the positive and natural matters between the two states and the two economies, in addition to the issues that require to be addressed by the two countries,” said Hezbollah’s minister in the Lebanese government.
“The political and security developments in Syria have led to many victories and détente on the political, military, and economic levels; this shall have positive reverberations on Lebanon,” he explained.
“The recovery of the Syrian economic leads to that of ours,” he concluded.
