Lebanese army on Wednesday targeted posts of Nusra Front Terrorists in Ras Baalbek, Arsal and al-Qaa, with President Michel Aoun was personally overseeing the operation.
National News Agency reported on Wednesday that the Lebanese army struck with heavy artillery posts of Nusra terrorists in Ras Baalbek, Arsal and al-Qaa, noting that helicopters also took part in the operation.
Later on Thursday, press office of Aoun reported that the Lebanese president was following up on Wednesday’s operation from the main operations room located at the Defense Ministry in Yarze.
Aoun arrived at the Defense Ministry late Wednesday where he met with Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, a statement released by president’s press office said, adding that the two men discussed the conditions of the military institution, its missions and various needs.
The president and army chief, accompanied by Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf, then headed to the Command Operations Room, where the president was briefed on the army’s deployment along the country’s northeastern border, the statement added, according to the English-language Lebanese newspaper, The Daily Star.
