Despite the official ratification of a ceasefire agreement early Friday, Israeli occupation forces continued to launch airstrikes and artillery shelling across the Gaza Strip, albeit at a lower rate, on various areas of the Strip.
The agreement, which was formally approved by the Israeli occupation government after being brokered in Sharm el-Sheikh under Egyptian, Qatari, Turkish, and American sponsorship, was supposed to bring an immediate end to the hostilities. However, Palestinian sources reported that the morning was met with ongoing attacks.

Palestinian sources reported that “many neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip witnessed Israeli artillery shelling and the firing of smoke bombs early this morning, particularly as citizens attempted to return to their residential areas, which had witnessed Israeli incursions.”
The sources continued, “Enemy forces opened fire this morning around the Shakoush area northwest of Rafah and northeast of Khan Yunis, simultaneously firing smoke bombs.” They added, “Heavy gunfire was also fired, coinciding with the firing of illumination bombs this morning around the Netzarim area in central Gaza.” They noted that “Israeli aircraft launched a raid on Khan Yunis, while Israeli artillery shelled the northwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.”

CNN quoted Israeli officials as saying, “The ceasefire will take effect immediately upon the Israeli government’s approval of the agreement.”
Shortly before the Israeli announcement, Israeli occupation forces shelled the northwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip with artillery shells positioned along the Netzarim axis.
