Lebanese President Jospeh Aoun received on Friday a delegation representing families of Lebanese detainees held in Israeli prisons.
The president received the Lebanese Association for Prisoners and Freed Detainees’ delegation at Baabda Presidential Palace, local media reported.
President Aoun told the delegation that the return of Lebanese detainees held in Israeli prisons “is a priority in the negotiations,” according to a statement posted on Lebanese Presidency’s account on X platform.

As he stated that contacts “are underway for the release of the detainees,” President Aoun hoped to “reach positive results as soon as possible,” the statement added.
The Lebanese Association of Prisoners and Liberated Detainees has recently updated its list of 16 known detainees in Israeli prisons. The figure includes, in addition to several Hezbollah resistance fighters, Lebanese civilians who were abducted by Israeli enemy forces during popular movement in south Lebanon, when Lebanese southerners headed for their towns and villages in January 2025, two months after the ceasefire took effect.
The figure also includes a Lebanese citizen, Imad Amhaz, who was kidnapped by Israeli occupation commandos force in November 2024, in the Lebanese coastal city of Batroun.
