Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani paid on Saturday a visit to Lebanon to take part in the ceremony marking martyrdom anniversary of Hezbollah Secretary Generals Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine.
Ahead of the ceremony at 16:30 (Beirut time), Larijani met with senior Lebanese officials, on top of whom was Speaker Nabih Berri.
“Lebanon is a friendly country that we consult with on various issues, especially in light of the accelerating events taking place nowadays,” the top Iranian official told reporters after his meeting with Speaker Berri at his residence in Ain Al-Tineh.

Meanwhile, Larijani hailed a stance by Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem earlier this month, in which his eminence called for a dialogue with Saudi Arabia.
“Saudi Arabia is also a friendly country. Today is the day of cooperation, as we face one enemy. Sheikh Qassem’s stance is absolutely correct and I think that this step puts things on the right track,” Larijani stated.
He affirmed that Hezbollah “represents a solid barrier against the Israeli entity, sacrificing itself for the well-being of its people.”
“The resistance is the Muslim nation’s great asset,” Larijani said.
After leaving Ain Al-Tineh, Larijani headed to the Grand Serail, where he met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

As he arrived at Beirut International Airport earlier on Saturday, the top Iranian official said: “Events have proven the truth of what late Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said over the past decades.”
He hailed Lebanon as the “impregnable trench against the Zionist entity,” stressing that: “In this arena, the resistance was born.”
