The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has praised the “unique” sacrifices of Iran’s top anti-terror commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Suleimani, who was assassinated by the United States in 2020.
Addressing a gathering of families of martyrs, veterans, and resistance activists, Imam Khamenei described Martyr Suleimani’s role in the fight against terrorism as “matchless” and said his sacrifices and services “must remain in our political teachings.”
The Leader emphasized that Martyr Suleimani’s “constant strategy was to revive the Resistance Front,” and he “always tried to revitalize the resistance” across the region. Defending the holy sites was a tenet for the revered commander, who invariably referred to Iran as a “sacred shrine.”
Imam Khamenei said Suleimani’s global perspective and refusal to adopt a “closed and limited outlook” were crucial characteristics that enabled him to detect and prevent dangers from beyond Iran’s borders.

The Leader underlined that the developments in the past few years, including the defense of holy shrines in Iraq, Syria, and across the region, have proven that the Islamic Revolution is “alive.” He promised that “the truth front will definitely emerge victorious,” with the “flag of resistance” still flying high despite the efforts of “ill-wishers.”
Touching on the US assassination of Suleimani and his companion, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Imam Khamenei emphasized that the IRGC’s missile attack on the US-run Ain al-Asad base in Iraq was just the “first slap” in retaliation. He also vowed that American bases in Syria would be “trampled upon under the feet of Syrian youth,” as the country belongs to its people.
The Leader’s powerful tribute to Martyr Suleimani’s legacy and the unwavering resilience of the Resistance Front has once again underscored the enduring impact of the Iranian commander’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and the defense of the Islamic Republic’s interests in the region.
