The foreign ministers of the five Arab countries of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, and Qatar as well as the states engaged in Astana negotiations, Russia, Iran, and Turkey, called, after a meeting in the Qatari capital of Doha, for a political solution that ends the military operations in Syria.
In a joint statement, the top diplomats in the above-mentioned states indicated that the crisis persistence is dangerous for Syria as well as regional and international security.
The statement also underlined the importance of augmenting the humanitarian aids to the Syrians, urging the implementation of the UN Resolution 2254 which stipulates the curb of the military escalation, protection of the civilians, prevention of a chaos scenario.
The conferees also underscored the political solution which matches the aspirations of the Syrian people and preserve the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Syria.
UN Syria envoy Geir Pederson briefed the conferees on the situation on Syria before they reiterated their support for the UN to end the crisis in Syria.
The Syrian Army announced on Saturday that its forces in Daraa and Sweida provinces, in southern Syria, have repositioned and established a robust security perimeter in the area.
